Killed Alive - a whole coral reef suffers an instant death
An unexplained mystery exists in the Dash de Lut (southern desert) of
Baluhistan in south -east Iran.
Deep in the desert, slowly being exposed by unforgiving winds is a a small
complete coral reef.
Everything is intact, coral, shells as in life except that the sea drained
away millenia ago.
Looking closer the mystery gets even stranger - the shells are still open
and were actively feeding at the time of death.
The reef seems to have, at one instant been alive and thriving and an
instant later dead and probably buried.
the soecimens are in a remarkable state of preservation down to the
tiniest microscopic detail.
Can anyone offer an explanation? --or does this remain a mystery!
